NOTES ON MATRIARCH
At 454/278-281 Pavilion during Bangkok Biennale 2018, these selected photos were part of a research and preparation phase for a potential short film based on my father’s family and the house where they all grew up in. This house would have dark corners which always made me feel afraid, even after I explored all the dark corners to know and see what was there. To this day, I still feel that there’s something I’m not seeing and that there was something else there. That something radiated a heavy feeling in me but at the same time, it was also tender. The short film would be an attempt to explore where the light meets the shadows of the house as well as to “immortalize” the ones I love through through the language of moving images. The working title for the project is called Matriarch, inspired by my grandmother who was always there.
